The wake of Maniitsoq Tour Boat _Matta_ in the Eternity Fjord in Greenland (2) (1).jpg

A private 3-day mini cruise through the wild fjords of West Greenland

The Nomad Fjord Cruise connects Kiattua Camp and Nuuk through a three-day journey along Greenland’s wild west coast.

Instead of travelling quickly between destinations, you explore fjords, glaciers, and small settlements at a slower pace aboard a private boat designed for only a few guests.

It is not a traditional cruise. It is a small Arctic expedition.

Only 2-8 guests.
Never crowded

With space for only two to eight guests, the mini-cruise remains calm, flexible, and personal.

Up to 4 guests stay onboard in the vessel’s cabins.

For larger groups, additional guests stay at the hotel in Maniitsoq, while the journey and all activities continue together aboard the expedition vessel.

The route can adapt to weather, wildlife sightings, and the rhythm of the sea — something impossible on larger cruises.

A Journey Through Fjords, Glaciers and Coastal Settlements

Your journey begins as you depart the quiet wilderness of Kiattua and travel toward Nuuk, where the mini cruise begins.

Leaving the capital behind, the route winds north through a maze of islands and narrow channels that define Greenland’s west coast. These sheltered waters reveal the rhythm of coastal life — fishing boats, small harbours, and distant mountain silhouettes rising from the sea.

Midday you arrive in Napasoq, a small settlement where daily life still follows traditional patterns shaped by the sea. Here you step ashore for your first encounter with Greenlandic community life, including a visit to the historic church and a walk through the village.

In the afternoon the boat continues north along the rugged coastline toward Maniitsoq, often called the Venice of Greenland for the many islands that surround it.

Spend the evening exploring the town or simply enjoying the quiet atmosphere of this coastal community before returning onboard for dinner and the first night of your journey.

Day 1

From Wilderness to Coastal Greenland

Kiattua → Nuuk → Maniitsoq

Day 2

Into Eternity Fjord

Maniitsoq → Eternity Fjord → Kangaamiut

The day begins early as the boat departs Maniitsoq and heads toward one of the most dramatic landscapes in West Greenland — Eternity Fjord.

Breakfast is served as towering mountains and glacier-carved cliffs rise around you. At the entrance to the fjord, massive glacier systems spill down toward the water, creating a landscape of ice, rock, and deep Arctic silence.

The day unfolds slowly within the fjord.

Depending on conditions, guests may explore by kayak, walk along remote shorelines, or simply watch the shifting ice and waterfalls cascading down the steep walls of the fjord. Wildlife sightings are common, and the scale of the landscape is overwhelming.

By late afternoon the boat begins its journey south toward Kangaamiut, a small island settlement surrounded by open sea and rugged coastline.

The evening is spent onboard at anchor, where the quiet of the Arctic night settles over the mini cruise.

The final day begins with a cruise east of Kangaamiut toward a pair of impressive glaciers that descend from the ice sheet into the fjord system.

Here the group goes ashore. Guests step onto the rugged Arctic landscape for a glacier walk, experiencing the raw power of the ice up close while surrounded by vast mountain scenery.

A wilderness lunch is served in this remote setting — one of those rare moments where the scale of Greenland truly becomes clear.

In the afternoon the boat turns south and begins the return journey toward Nuuk, weaving once more through the coastal island system that defines Greenland’s west coast.

As the capital slowly reappears on the horizon, the journey comes to a close — completing a journey that has moved from remote wilderness, through coastal communities, into glacier fjords, and back again.

Day 3

Glaciers and the Return South

Kangaamiut → Twin Glaciers → Nuuk

Life onboard

The mini-cruise takes place aboard a Targa 44, a robust Nordic boat designed for exploring Arctic coastlines.

With three small sleeping cabins and two crew members onboard, the atmosphere is intimate and relaxed, with space for only a few guests.

Meals are prepared and served either onboard or ashore, depending on the day’s activities and the landscapes we explore.

The boat’s walk-around design makes it easy to move freely between different viewpoints — relax on the flybridge, sit at the bow watching the fjords unfold ahead, or enjoy the view from the sheltered aft deck.

Between landings and excursions there is time to watch the coastline pass by, photograph glaciers, and settle into the quiet rhythm of Arctic travel.
