Chef Position at Nomad Greenland
A job that feels like an adventure – but also demands dedication

We are looking for two chefs to join our remote wilderness camp in Kiattua, Greenland, from mid-June to mid-September. This is not a fine dining restaurant, but we aim to create meals as close to fine dining as the conditions allow, using fresh, local ingredients and a creative approach. Our kitchen may be set in a tent, but the ambition is high.

We work in the heart of Greenland’s wilderness – far from the city, in rhythm with nature. But let’s be honest: this isn’t a vacation. The work is demanding, and some days are long. At the same time, the remote setting shapes how we work together—we rely on each other in a way that feels natural, balancing independence with strong teamwork.

(If you’re only available for part of the season, please reach out anyway – we may still need you)

Working at Nomad Greenland is not your typical job. It’s a way of life where every day is a mix of hard work, craftsmanship, creativity, hospitality, and teamwork. We live and work in the heart of Greenland’s wilderness – far from the noise of the city, in rhythm with nature. But let’s be honest: this isn’t a vacation. The work is physically and mentally demanding. Some days are long, and the tasks vary – from preparing gourmet meals to keeping track of supplies, ensuring a warm and welcoming dining experience,

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Preparing breakfast, lunch, and a three-course dinner for a small group of guests (4-12 people).

  • Working with fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible – including wild game such as reindeer, musk ox, snow hare, and ptarmigan (a local bird), as well as freshly caught fish, shellfish, and foraged herbs and berries.

  • Cooking in a well-equipped kitchen, spread between a tent and a container, featuring a gastro oven, induction cooktops, industrial fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and running water.

  • Working closely with a waiter, who also assists as a kitchen helper – this is a team effort, and tasks are shared.

  • Maintaining high culinary standards despite the remote setting, delivering meals that balance creativity, technique, and the best of Greenlandic ingredients.

  • Engaging with guests in an open kitchen environment, where conversations about the food, ingredients, and cooking techniques naturally become part of the experience.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • An experienced chef who is confident working independently but also enjoys being part of a small, close-knit team.

  • Someone who understands that while the kitchen is remote, the ambition is to deliver a fine dining experience within the limits of nature.

  • A chef who is flexible and resourceful, able to adapt to the challenges of cooking in the wilderness.

  • A person with roots in Greenland is preferred. Knowledge of Nordic ingredients is a must, and experience from the wilderness is preferred but not required.

  • A team player who works well with the waiter/kitchen helper to ensure smooth service.

  • Someone who understands that this is not a 9-to-5 job – some days are long, and flexibility is key.

Work Period & Flexibility:

  • We prefer someone who can stay for the full mid-June to mid-September season, but if you are only available for part of it, please reach out – we may still need you.

  • Each camp has one chef and one extra chef to cover days off and sick leave. This means you may also work in our Saqqaq camp when needed.

What We Offer:

  • A unique opportunity to cook in one of the most remote and breathtaking places in the world.

  • A well-equipped kitchen despite the wilderness setting.

  • A strong team atmosphere, where we work together and support each other.

  • Food and accommodation included – your focus is on the experience, not logistics.

  • A job that is demanding but rewarding, with no two days ever the same.
